sweet!! I thought my PST was gone. But the roaming profile didn't translate the location when i setup a new profile after Outlook re-install. Man, i thought i was screwed, but once i rejigged the file location of the PST in outlook, all was good.

Hi,
I have heard of scanpst.exe but I thought this was only in earlier versions of Windows. Do you know if it still works with newer versions of Outlook and their PST files.

Are there any particular benefits of using scanpst, instead of a tool like PST repair? I am just a bit confused, because I have some Outlook problems, but not sure what the best way to fix is. Sometimes the files open fine, but other times they appear corrupt, but they can be re-opened after a reboot.

thanks

very good guide. We have 4 Outlook users currently, but will switch to Zimbra soon. In the meantime, it was handy to be able to recover Outlook passwords. Some older PSTs were locked, and I didn't know this was possible.

regards.

I have been having a few Outlook problems lately, but then yesterday the inbox finally died.

I am in a small home business, so when I couldn't get to my contacts, i thought i was doomed. I just downloaded Stellar Repair that you mentioned, and it did retrieve all of my contacts...and email too.

A lucky save for now. It's probably a good time to start backing up the PST files I think.
